Can two alpha men put aside their hate for each other and maybe find love?I would recommend reading the first book in the series, Last Chance, because it will show just how Corbin Hamilton, a Kresnik warrior (Vampire slayer), ended up babysitting Johan, a bloodsucker.
I enjoyed reading Fighting Chance for many reasons. One of the main reasons was the battle between two alpha males - sworn enemies - who are trying to live under the same roof. Other aspects I liked are the unique and different twists contained in this story as compared to other vampire and slayer tales I've read in the past.
I do love reading a tale where the happy ever after does not come easy. The two main characters are constantly fighting their attraction to each other in hopes of crushing any developing feelings while living together. It was really entertaining watching the banter between Corbin and Johan especially when they do things just to agitate the other. It left me chuckling.
However, there is a sweet side to both men that they let show in some of the scenes. It made it hard for me to decide which one to like the most. The heat and temptation the two fight against while in each other's company made me laugh out loud a time or two. Watching them deal with the sexual frustration kept me on the edge of my chair throughout the book.
Don't let this one pass you by if you're looking for a well written paranormal romance where the fight to hide their attraction and growing feelings is a battle worth reading. This book definitely gives some brilliant new twists to an age old story, and a lot of sizzle to keep you turning the pages.

Fighting Chance is the second book in the Chances series. The well written plot is full of action, along with emotional chaos. The characters are credible. Corbin leads a lonely life, filled with guilt for actions in his past; he has never had or wanted a relationship before he met Johan. Corbin's focus and goal is to avenge his father's death by killing the prince of the Red Serpent clan. In order to achieve this goal, Corbin must survive the final trials of a Kresnik warrior. With Johan fighting beside him and saving his life several times, Corbin finally admits that he loves Johan.
The serum treatments Johan receives allows Johan's emotions to awaken again and the emotion Johan feels the most is love for Corbin. Johan's old world charm was a tool used merely to get his victim's blood, before meeting Corbin. Now Johan is determined to gain Corbin's trust, as well as protect Corbin from harm even if it means his own death. Corbin and Johan are well matched in strength along with gifts that boost up each other's skills in battle. The actual intimacy, which comes towards the end, is sensual. Viki Lyn has created an exciting and exceptionally stirring fantasy that I enjoyed immensely.

Fighting Chance is set in a wonderful world filled with a variety of vampires and a group sworn to slay them. Within the Kresnicks, we also see a variety of powers and abilities. Corbin is an intriguing man and his desire for Johan he sees as a flaw. Johan has no problem with his desires for Corbin. Now he has to convince him.
This is the first book I read set in this world. Fighting Chance is Book 2 in Viki Lyn's Chances series. Book 1 is Last Chance and I know I will be rushing out to find it. Exciting, sensual, suspenseful and incendiary - Fighting Chance has it all. Go for it with Viki Lyn's Fighting Chance.
